Bologna Teak Chest of Drawers

Inspired by an Italian canterano of circa 1690–1700, this architectural chest of drawers is reimagined in warm satin-finished teak. Three full-width drawers, finely moulded panels and small mother-of-pearl keyhole inlays give the seventeenth-century form a quieter contemporary character.

Description

The original canterano's imposing rectangular form is retained, with a broad overhanging top, framed corner pilasters and a substantial plinth resting on restrained scroll brackets. Each of the three full-width drawers has a finely profiled front, centred by a small ivory-toned mother-of-pearl lozenge with a dark keyhole. The teak grain and carefully joined details provide the decorative interest without artificial ageing. Equally suited to an entrance hall, library or generously scaled bedroom.

Historical Reference

Based on Italian canterano chest-of-drawers forms from circa 1690–1700. This is a new KIRSANOV interpretation, not an antique or artificially distressed reproduction.
