Cascais Chinoiserie Bureau Cabinet
Inspired by eighteenth-century Portuguese bureau cabinets, this richly coloured piece combines a vermilion lacquer exterior, gilt chinoiserie decoration and an architectural double-door upper cabinet with a fall-front writing bureau below.
Description
Birds, flowering branches, pagodas and imagined landscapes extend across the doors, fall-front, drawers and side panels. A scrolling carved pediment crowns the upper cabinet; behind its doors, a contrasting black interior provides shelves and a gilded sunburst motif. The fall-front opens to reveal a writing surface and small compartments, while two full-width drawers complete the lower section. Newly made rather than artificially aged, it is intended as an expressive piece for a contemporary or traditional interior.
Dimensions
To be confirmed for the individual commission.
